Analysis Bradbury’s language especially his figure of speech and syntax, to Coney how Montag’s inner world differed from the world around him.
Every day we live our lives, where we think everything revolves around ourselves. Expelling the outside world from our personal bubble. We think and do as we please in our own universe. The book Fahrenheit 451 by Bradbury is a great example of the way an author uses different methods of separating the inner world of a character from the outer world. We can see the difference in the syntax involved in the book.
Bradbury in his book uses different syntax to explain the world in his book. For example, when he is tending his wife during her overdose a sudden introduction of airplanes overhead are expressed. The word he chooses to tell the things that are happening to Montag in long and rich sentences. When it came to the outside he uses short and abrupt sentences. By doing this Bradbury tells the audience that the outside world is less important than what’s happening to Montag the main character. It is also a way for Bradbury to place a tone in the sense. While he is having a meltdown in his home, the planes are surging overhead, causing the house to be shook like Montag’s overwhelmed mind. The formatting of the writing leaves the reader gasping for a breath implicating the situation the character is in.
Bradbury goes on near the end of the story we reach the chase of Montag. At this part, Montag is running away from police after killing his mate. As he is running he stops catches his pursue on the parlors. He then contemplates on what the world is doing while he is being hunted down. The author is his using the inner thought of the character to explain the thoughts of the people watching. This sets a way of which the audience is able to witness the society at its most chaotic moments. If today we saw a police chase we are going to go outside if it’s on our front door. In the book, the people are planted in their parlors. When they can go outside and see it, but rather not. This sets a wall between Montag and the locked up society.
In the end, we can see the way Bradbury uses syntax and figure of speech to differ the worlds in his story. We can say that they are told in different ways as referred in the book. The way the character views the world. How the world is around the character.
